What Comes from Walking by the Spirit

“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”

~Isaiah 11:2

I love this verse!

I speak and write a lot about the importance of walking by the Spirit and what that looks like. But what do we get when we do walk by the Spirit?

According to this verse we acquire:

•wisdom

•understanding

•counsel

•might

•knowledge

•the fear of the Lord

Basically everything we need, right? ðŸ˜‰

Walking by the Spirit is not just some fancy, theological term used to describe the practice of following the Lord’s direction for your life. It is what actually equips and prepares you for your very life.

Every single day we need wisdom. We need knowledge. We need strength (can I get an amen?!). We need counsel.

We find all that and more as we walk by the Spirit.

If this concept is new to you, I encourage you to camp out in Galatians 5:16-23. Paul speaks to the concept of walking by the Spirit quite a lot there and teaches that the much-desired fruits of the Spirit only come when we are walking by the Spirit - not when we are striving, "doing our best", or relying on ourselves.

If you want to live the victorious Christian life, friend, the key is to walk by the Spirit.

Reflection Questions:

1) Are you walking by the Spirit? Or are you relying on yourself? Why?

2) How can you make it more of a daily practice to "walk by the Spirit"?

3) Walking by the Spirit means being in daily relationship with Him through His Word and time spent in prayer. Are you prioritizing these spiritual disciplines?
