Carry On, Prayer Warrior

 By Paula Short:

"Just then, a mighty hand touched me and lifted my trembling body onto my hands and knees. Daniel, you are highly regarded by God. I have been sent to help you understand the destiny of your people. Stand up and listen carefully to what I have to tell you. As he spoke, I slowly rose to my feet, though I was still shaking. Do not be afraid, Daniel. From the very first day that you began to pursue understanding and humble yourself before your God, your words have been heard. I have been sent in response to what you've said." Daniel 10:11-12— VOICE

So what's a prayer warrior? Pray With Confidence says it this way "Another word for prayer warrior is an intercessor. An intercessor is someone who prays for people, events, resolutions, etc., on behalf of someone else."

Daniel was a prayer warrior. He prayed every day, seeking God persistently—ceaselessly. When you think about the time he lived in, it's really amazing. He was taken prisoner by Israel and taken to Babylon.

He was known to the king, who saw Daniel's wisdom and promoted him. For that reason, he developed enemies who tried to destroy him.

After Daniel had been praying about a coming war, an angel appeared. The angel told Daniel that from the first moment of prayer, God had heard his requests. These prayers were answered without delay.

But Daniel didn't see those answers for several days. It was when the angel came with an explanation. He said he would have been there sooner, but for the past 21 days, the spirit prince of Persia opposed him and prevented him from coming promptly. Daniel 10:13—VOICE

Sometimes answers may be hindered by unseen obstacles. But, Daniel's story demonstrates that we may not always see instantaneous answers to our prayers. But it doesn't mean that God's not listening. Not only does God hear your prayers, but He will also be faithful to answer them at the right time! Trust God to minister to you as he did to Daniel.

Prayer

Dear Abba, sometimes I get discouraged when I pray for others. When this happens, please help me to remember the story of Daniel. I want to stand firm in my faith, even when it feels like nothing's happening. Please help me to remember that you are working behind the scenes for my good and your glory. Even if I have to wait. Thank You for always listening! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection

1. What have you been praying over faithfully?

2. How often do you pray? What circumstances encourage you to pray?

3. What delayed answers to prayer have you seen in your life?
