Writing from the Heart

   By: Shari A. Miller

Writing from the heart...

We all have stories that are tattooed upon our lives. Stories filled with laughter and joy, and some stories filled with so much pain that they shatter our heart every time we think of them.

Sometimes life just seems so hard. We all have our trials that we go through, financial, marriage, children, health and job problems, the list is endless.

For me, the biggest trial I face is my health. There are days that I wake up lonely and afraid, gasping for air as my mind races with thoughts of fear as I wonder what the next test result will bring. Will I be told that things are stable, or will the results show that things have gotten worse and the end is near? I lay in my bed and cry out to God for the 100th time to please have mercy on me and to please grant me long life. Yet, sometimes all I hear is pure silence. A deafening silence that chills me to my bones and drains me of all the energy I need to face the day.

Have you every felt like this? Have your marriage problems, or your wayward children caused you to  drop to your knees and fall prostrate before the Savior as you beg for help, as you beg for the pain to end?

I want to tell you sisters that you're not alone. We're all right here with you. At one time or another we've all walked this same road too.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalm 147:3

If I could reach through your computer or phone, I'd give you a great big hug and tell you that it's going to be okay. I'd tell you that God is creating something beautiful out of these trials, and one day when we reach our eternal home in heaven, we'll understand more clearly what these trials were for.

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us."  - Romans 8:18

When you're faced with times like these, never forget that you're not alone. Even if you can't feel His presence I promise you that the Father is there. Release the problems and your worries, surrender them over to the Lord. He understands what your going through. As you cling to your last hope, choose faith over fear. Choose the goodness of God to see you through. Rest on Him and His promises, to find the hope and joy that your desperately searching for. I promise you that it is there for the taking.
