Everlasting Life

  By: Shari A. Miller

Sometimes, I feel like we live in an upside down world. What's wrong is right, and what's right is wrong. It seems as if almost everyone is at odds with each other for one thing or another. Even families are dividing due to differing beliefs. The other day, I was reading a news article, about how a mother and daughter were not speaking to each other because of a political rift. Living with a terminal illness makes me look at things a little differently. All I could think of was, how absolutely sad, it's definitely not worth it. In the blink of an eye a family member can pass away, and after that, the time for saying sorry is long gone.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt we are living in the end times. The examples that I gave you are just a tiny fraction of what is changing in our world. If there is one thing that I know for certain is; we need to be ready when we meet Jesus. What I mean by this is, accepting Jesus as Lord of our lives, and asking Him to forgive us of our sins, so that we may have the gift of.....Everlasting Life.

For those of you that may not know, we are all sinners and live under the penalty of sin. (Romans 3:10)

"When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned." - Romans 5:12

It is because of this sin, that God sent His one and only Son, to die on the cross for our sins.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." - John 3:16

The only way that we can have this precious gift of eternal life, is by asking God to forgive us of our sins and come into our lives to live forever more.

"The time has come, "he said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!" - Mark 1:15

If you would like to ask for forgiveness of your sins please pray the sinners prayer that follows:

Dear Father,

I am a sinner. I know that you sent your son Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins. I want to ask you for forgiveness of my sins and to come into my life and live forever more. I will turn from my sins and follow you as my Savior.

Amen

If you have prayed this prayer I want to welcome you to the family of God!

Asking for forgiveness of your sins is a start, but there's more to it than that. You need to have a relationship with God and live a life that's devoted to Him. This happens through reading God's Word, living a life according to His Word, prayer, worshipping God, and fellowshipping with other believers.

I can not promise you that you will never have any problems once you do these two things, however it will sure make life a lot better. You will receive eternal life and have Jesus lead and guide you when you do. He will always be there for you, to encourage and strengthen you to live a life for Him.

Once you become a Christian, you'll look at the outside world with a new set of eyes. You'll understand that God has it all under control and that there is no need to fear when He is sitting on the throne.
