Our Shield

By: Jenifer Metzger

But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
I cry aloud to the Lord,
and He answers me from His holy mountain.
Psalm 3:2-4

Guilt.
Shame.
Sin.
Pain.
Illness.
Debt.
Loss.
Loneliness.
Grief.
The list goes on and on...

We fight this world day in and day out. From the very moment we wake up in the morning we are tormented by our enemy. Our enemy who knows what we struggle with and uses it for his evil benefit.

No matter what is going on around us, the Lord is our shield.

Yet we are reminded in Psalm that the Lord is our shield. The enemy can try to attack. He can whisper his lies and deception to us. He can try to reach us. He can throw his fiery darts at us. But, the Lord is our shield.

There is nothing the enemy can do to us when the Lord is protecting us. So my friend, lift your head. Cry out in worship to the Lord. Praise Him for His protection. He will hold you, hear you, answer you, and protect you.
