When the New Year Hands You Lemons

By:

Emily Miller

Needless to say, 2018 did not get off to a great start for me.

First, my horse passed away on New Years Day. He lived a long, good life. Yet, it is still a bitter pill to swallow after you came into the new year intending for it to be a good year after having somewhat of a rocky 2017.

Then, the neverending saga of having a mom struggling with stage four breast cancer just continues to write itself.

This combination has shall we say, kinda distracted me from the goals I had set for the year this week.

Yup.

Not a great 2018 so far.

If your 2018 happened to start out just like mine did, I want to remind you today of a couple things.

First, His mercies are new each and every single morning!

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!
Lamentations 3:22-23

Second, He is faithful. We all will have our rough patches this year. Despite all the ups and down you may face, He promises to never leave you, nor forsake you!

The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8

Remember these truths as you head into your second week of 2018!
