It's Not Me, It's Him

By: Jenifer Metzger

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration
and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us
abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified
by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:4-7

This week while reading my Bible, I read the above verses. They stuck out to me and replayed in my mind over and over throughout the day. Don't you love when God does that?

The verses remind us that we are not saved by works of righteousness which we have done. For that I am thankful. While I try to be "good" and do good things, while I strive to live a life for God, I am human and I fail daily. I do, say and think things that are displeasing to God. But, praise God, it is not by me alone that I am saved. I am saved through Him.

It is by God's mercy and grace, His love and forgiveness that we are cleansed and have the hope of eternal life. It is in Him and through Him. I am thankful for His mercy. I am thankful that He renews me each time I confess my sin and ask forgiveness.

What verse has stuck out to you recently?

  1. Love those verses! Such a wonderful truth and reassurance. Today I am sharing verses that have helped me in caring for my mother-in-law, where my greatest battle is my own selfishness.
