What It All Boils Down To

By: Shari A. Miller

This past weekend was a special holiday that some love, and others....not so much, Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day is usually spent with family, or a husband and wife, or a boyfriend and girlfriend. For some, this day can be hard when there is not a special someone in their life.

But, the reality is, and this something we often forget, that our greatest Valentine is God. Once we have accepted Him as our Savior we are never alone. His love for us is unending, it knows no bounds.

My son's favorite verse in the Bible is...

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."  (NIV)

This is - "What It All Boils Down To."

LOVE

Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37-39, what the two greatest commandments are...

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"  (NIV)

And again in the book of Deuteronomy we see how important love is....

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)

No matter where you're at in life, have love be your driving ambition. Love your God, love your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend, family and friends. Love conquers a multitude of things. It rights wrongs, brings life to what was dead, and hope where all hope was lost.

Let's love others with great compassion and conviction the same way our Father loves us. When you do step back and watch how things change. The smiles on a loved ones face, the light shinning where all was dark.

Make a difference today through love.
