Ask

by Robin McKay

While having my quiet time this morning, I was asking God all kinds of questions.  Some I felt some definite response...others...not so muchWhat I enjoyed most of all, was just feeling snuggled up against His heart while I snuggled under a warm blanket in the quiet house.  Undisturbed by any other noise than the dog's snoring.

So...if you could sit down with Jesus today and ask Him one or two questions--what would they be?

He's there!  He's with you now!  Just because we cannot always experience His Presence with our 5 senses does not mean He is absent. Believe without doubt He is with you...now!

Sit quietly with Him.  Rest with Him.  Drink from His living water.  Fill His courts with the praises of your mouth.  Then ask...simply ask those questions you have that only He could possibly answer.

“You do not have because you do not ask.”  James 4:2b

Wait.  Wait longer.  Wait and don't give in to restlessness.

He desires to speak to you, to guide you...to direct your steps.  The Holy Spirit waits within to receive from Him.

Take the authority given you by God through Christ Jesus over your mind.  Ask Him to guard the doorway of your thoughts so that you hear only from Him—not your own thoughts and not the world’s influences.

The world is loud and God oftentimes speaks in a whisper.

Be quiet, be still...wait. (Isaiah 40:31)

“All things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”  Matthew 21:22

Did you hear Him?  Did you receive an idea—a thought you know was not your own?  Write it down. Pray and ask again for confirmation that it was truly what He wanted you to hear this morning.

Is your heart stirred or your head spinning?  Was it what you were needing to hear...wanting to receive...?

“So I say to you ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.  What man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?  Or if he ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake will he?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”  Matthew 7:7-11
