Desperate for Jesus!

Perhaps that sounds melodramatic or a bit “over the top”. But it is 100% absolute truth— no doubt, romanticism, or exaggeration implied or intended!

I am desperate for Jesus!

I know my story. I am who I am today because of certain people, influences, events, and responses. I am me because of grace and the merciful love of God. I am also formed unaware of lies the enemy has fed me and the result those have had on my thinking.

That is why . . . I am so very desperate for Jesus!

I love Him. I am getting to know Him.  I want to know Him better. He is within me!
Absolutely incredible!
And I am seated with Him right now at the right hand of God! In the heavenly realm!
Even more incredible!!

I don’t desire to grow in emotion towards Jesus. I desire to grow in awareness of Him. I’m after realization and implementation of the power and authority that is mine in Christ. I want to break free from captivity binding me. have freedom in Christ. It says so throughout the word of God. And yet, I don’t walk in full freedom. I walk in bondage created specifically for me by the prince of darkness. And I’m also a bit bound up by my flesh’s take on the culture around me.

In Jesus’ name and by His blood I am set free! Free from whatever holds me captive. WHATEVER! His freedom is complete and forever with no short-comings or lack. His freedom our grace gift from the Father for each bowed knee.

I want this freedom! So I am desperate for Jesus!

Are you desperate?

Sometimes we think we’re in urgent need of an easier life, a healthier body, a job with more pay, a not-so-scary world. The truth is we are all desperate for the one thing that can only be filled by one thing!

When formed, we each were created with an overwhelming desire to be one with our Creator. When we are not, there is an insurmountable insufficiency in our being we try desperately to fill in other ways and by other things. Only an ongoing filling of God in our life, through relationship, will satisfy this otherwise insatiable longing! We can’t run from it or hope to find our filling in people, in positions, or in possessions. It is only available through God’s son, Jesus Christ!

I pray my need remains intense! “God, alert me when my desperation wanes! When self or others or things or circumstances begin to crowd in and consume me with desperations of their own—this is when I need Jesus all the more.”

My time here is temporary. When my desperation keeps my eyes fixed on the Lover of my soul, I am not so easily tossed to and fro by the cares and complexities of life here. I am desperate for who He is and I am desperate to be kept where He can keep me—in perfect peace

What about you? What are your desperate for?
