Chin Up!

Being a mom of 5, life is anything but boring! Each week brings new challenges, experiences, joys and some days; I feel very overwhelmed.

There are days when my role as mom, housewife, friend, cook, chauffeur, maid (and the list goes on) leaves me wanting to hide in my closet and not have to answer any questions, make lunches, give baths, read stories, help with homework; do the laundry, etc. And I ask the question silently, "Does anyone see me?  Do the things I do matter? Is this all in vain?" And I think, "Surely you are the only woman in the world who has ever felt like this, shame on you!"

And then the guilt sets in.

So I cry out to God and say, "I need to know that YOU see me! Can you please just let me know that I'm not alone?" And as I wait on Him, I hear that still small voice that reassures me that I am seen, I am adored, I matter, I have value. He tells me I am fearfully and wonderfully made. He reminds me I was chosen to be the momma of these 5 blessings. He reaffirms who He has called me to be.

Just a little time in His presence gives me the strength to climb out of the closet and face the piles of laundry and the dirty diapers; the grocery list and the ironing. Just a little time in His presence makes me want to be the best momma, friend and wife I can be. For HIS glory!

So chin up ladies! YOU do matter. YOU are seen. Those things that you do everyday that seem mundane have meaning. You have a God who see's all that you do, the big and the small. He dances over you and He delights in YOU! Imagine that, the Creator of the Universe delights in YOU! Let that fact soak in for a minute.

The God who formed and fashioned the stars, the heavens and the earth, delights in YOU! In ME! We will all have days that we are tired, overwhelmed and stressed. But next time you want to hide, remember....chin up! Your Heavenly Father takes great delight in YOU!

  3. Thank you Sarah. This is important encouragement for all ladies, even those of us with empty nests that sometimes want to hide in that closet. Looking forward to Fridays in a different way now. God's blessings on you as you seek His face in what to share with us.
