In ALL Circumstances...

by Debi Baker

Today I am taking a break from 'The Names of God' and to remind us that we are called to be thankful!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to "18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

What?  You mean I am supposed to be thankful when the toilet overflows?  When the kids disobey?  When my hubby is late from work and dinner is ruined?  YES!  We are to be thankful in ALL circumstances. We are not told to only be thankful when things are peachy keen.  It's easy to be thankful when everything is going well.  It's when things go awry that we find it difficult to express thanks to God; but that's when we need to do it!

As Thanksgiving approaches next week, take some time to thank your Creator in ALL things.  When the toilet overflows, be thankful that you live in a home where you have a toilet..  When the kids disobey, be thankful that God has blessed you with offspring that you can raise in the fear and admonition of the Almighty God.  Ask Him how he would have you handle their disobedience...and then follow through with His instruction.  When your hubby is late getting home, be thankful that he has a job that provides your home and the food on the table...even if it is a little well done.{{smiles}}  In every circumstance there is at least a small shred of something for which we can be thankful, we just have to look for it.

That is my challenge to you.  This week, from today until Thanksgiving day, each day...in each circumstance, look for that shred of light that is something for which you can be thankful.  As the week goes on, come back here and share with us your story of being thankful in all circumstances!

God bless and have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!!
