Letting go...

by:  Debi Baker

"18 …Forget what happened before, and do not think
about the past.  19 Look at the new thing I am going to do.
It is already happening.  Don’t you see it?  I will make
a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land."
 Isaiah 43:18-19 NCV

So often we get hung up on our past.  We let it define who we are and who we will be.  According to Isaiah God said that we are to forget what has happened and not to thing about the past.  I believe we are delivered from our past when we are saved.  It's time to stop living in the past and stop letting it define us.  Vs. 19 tells us that God is doing a NEW thing in our life.  He is carving out a new path for us in our old dry desert.  He is bringing life to our dead life!

The past is part of who we are but it is not ALL we are.  Learn from it and move on to become the person in Christ you are intended to be!!

Use your past as a guidepost to tomorrow,
not a hitching post to yesterday.

Embrace the you God wants you to be!!

  1. Amen! Letting go of the past can be so hard. But God says He puts are sins as far as the east is to the west. If He can, so can we.

  2. What a great devotional for today! I just stumbled across this blog called Every Bitter Thing is Sweet (http://everybitterthingissweet.com). I still have to read through it, but it's crazy how I came across both of these today and both speak of not letting your past define you but allowing God to use even the hard for good. Love this!
