Look to the Eternal...

Today as I was having my quiet time with the Lord, I read this verse, "We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)

This verse is something that has really hit me right between the eyes.  During this and every Christmas season it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle.  It is so easy to forget why we celebrate this holiday.  I also find that even in the every day of life sometimes we get caught up in our own difficulties heartbreaks and broken dreams.  How on earth can we endure the pain of this life?

Well, I am so thankful for the timely Word of God!  This verse in 2 Corinthians (4:18) isn't a quick fix but it reminds us that this life is temporary.  We need to look to the future we have in glory and stop dwelling on the problems of this 'temporary' life.  It is our future in glory that is eternal.  We can't see it with our natural eyes but we can with our spiritual eyes.  Stop dwelling on the present and all the problems here.  In verses 8-9 of 2 Corinthians 4, Paul says "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."  Life will come at us with all the enemy can muster up but we will not be destroyed!

Thank you, Lord, for Your word.  Thank you for the comfort it provides when we are stressed to the max.  Thank you, Lord, that you bring reminders to us in time of need.

Have a blessed day.  Take some extra time today thinking on the 'unseen' which is eternal!!!
