Tasty Tuesday - Whole Wheat and Bran Buttermilk Pancakes






I'm currently trying to eat healthier and fill my body with better nutrients, so I can have a greater chance of fighting breast cancer. 

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;" ~ 1 Corinthians 6:19 

I'm not saying that I'll never have a treat now and then, however I'm being more intentional with what I choose to eat. One of my favorite meals of the day is breakfast, especially pancakes. The recipe below was given to me by an old friend, they are very delicious and a great healthy alternative.


Whole Wheat Bran and Buttermilk Pancakes

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
1/4 cup course oat bran
1/4 cup wheat bran 
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbls. baking soda
3 eggs
2-3 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Mix dry ingredients using whisk. Add in eggs and milk. Start with 2 cups milk and add more until desired consistency is reached. Mix well, drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto a non stick griddle. Add fresh fruit and enjoy! Makes 24 pancakes.
