Thankful for my upbringing...

I think Spring has finally sprung...and I am so glad.  There is something so special about this time of year.  I love this time of year.  I love that everything seems to be coming  back to life...the trees are budding, the flowers are blooming and the birds are singing!  It's a joyous time for sure.

Today I am especially thankful for my family.  I am truly blessed with the most amazing parents.  They are so very special to me.  I love them so much.  I know that not everyone can say that they have great parents but I can.  They raised me with love.  They taught me to love.  They taught me that you can disagree, sometimes strongly, and still remain in love.  They taught me that you have to fight for a marriage...it's not something that you work to get and then stop working.  They taught me that finances may not always be the best, but you trust God and do what you must to be a good steward with money.  They taught me that children are a gift from God and that they are only lent to us for a season, they truly belong to God.  They taught me respect, something that many parents fail to teach today.  They taught me that God created this earth and everything in it.  I am so thankful and blessed that God saw fit to give me the parents He gave me.  I can only pray that I give my kids the same kind of legacy that my parents gave me.

Now, as a family, we believed in God and went to church some.  We knew nothing of having a relationship with Him.  We believed.  We went to church at times.  But there was enough God in my parents to raise me & my brother to believe in Him and to search for Him.  I couldn't have asked for a better childhood.  No, it wasn't all a bed of roses...there were bad times.  But, we trusted God and knew that it would all be ok.  Yes, I do wish we had known about having a true, genuine relationship, but we didn't.  We do now.  My parents are amazing Godly parents, grandparents & great grandparents.  God has truly blessed my family.  Thank you, Lord, for your hand on my life and the life of my parents...even when we didn't know You did.

Thank you, Mama & Daddy, for loving me unconditionally and raising me right!  I love you.

What are you thankful for today?  How has God blessed you in your life...even when you weren't aware of it?

Have a great day,

  1. Thank you for a great post, Sissy. I don't know that we really deserve the praise you have given us but we certainly appreciate it. When you have God in your life even if you don't realize it it is easy to raise your children. Nanny and Pappy (mostly Nanny) taught me so much about God but she didn't have a relationship with Him until later in her life. I thank God for a godly daughter, you are wonderful. I love you very much and I praise the Lord for you and Ken also.

Blessings to you always and love you.
