Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart...Ecclesiastes 9:10
When I was working full time, I took my job very seriously. 99.9% of the time I did not enjoy what I was doing but I did it. I followed instruction well and I always got my work done. I showed respect to my bosses and would help my co-workers if the need ever arose.
Now that I'm home, I can't say that I have been taking this job nearly as serious. I am welcome to stay in my pajama's all day if I want. I can plug in some movies if I don't feel like doing anything and the kids have tons of toys so they are well distracted. So this isn't really a job right?
WRONG.....oh so wrong.

For mom's who are new to staying at home like I am, I found, through God, a most amazing website called www.abcjesuslovesme.com. This is preschool curriculum as well as just summer fun activities. We're working on the letter A right now as well as Creation and Noah's Ark.
If you are working for man I pray that God would let you know in your heart that you're also working for Him and He expects 110% all of the time. If you stumble, that's ok pick yourself up and keep going. Get serious about working for the Lord.
Servants, do what you're told by your earthly masters. And don't just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you'll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you're serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn't cover up bad work. Colossians 3:23 msg
We shouldn't just do the minimum or work hard only when someone is watching. Like you said, everything we do should be done as unto the Lord. God is always watching and I want Him to be pleased.
ReplyDeleteI know from experience that just sitting around letting the kids watch tv or run wild all day does not work. As a stay at home mom, we need to teach our children, play with them, love on them.
ReplyDeleteGod is always watching, always there. God is the best Father of them all, and I want to learn from Him. Great post.
So true...we have this verse printed on my hubby's business cards!
